Lo & Behold: Poetic Botanical Series By Samuel Zeller
Posted on 20 March 2017
Beauty of an object is amplified when it's showcased next to an opposing element. Samuel Zeller does this in his ‘Botanical’ series.
Swiss photographer Samuel Zeller captures the serenity and composure of botanical photographs in gardens of Geneva, Switzerland. Inspired by classical botanical illustrations from the 18th century, Zeller fuses the heritage of an architectural period and the botanical research of the ancient tradition this series. He explores the refracted reality of the greenhouse in which resides the subject of his series — the greenhouse manifests a beautiful man-made creation of refined elegance through the translucent glass as the structure itself becomes a frame in Zeller's poetic perception.
The contrast of the subjects lets us appreciate the beauty of each more fully. Reminiscent of an Impressionistic painting, Zeller leaves us in that dreamy romantic state of mind.
