MEET THE GIRL: LAURE ENGËL, PHOTOGRAPHER, YOUTUBER & CONTENT CREATOR
Posted on 09 March 2017
This week's girl is the sweet and talented, Lauren Engël! Lauren is a half-American half-Chinese photographer. She grew up in Hong Kong and has lived in New York, Sydney and Boston. Her travels have taken her to shoot all over the world. Lauren's work has been published in Vogue France, GQ France, Harper's Bazaar Australia and Hypebeast, to name a few. One of her most memorable projects was with Beats By Dre in Hong Kong where she shot Kendrick Lamar & Dr. Dre.
Tag along as we share with you a taste of her recent adventures in Morocco with our SS17 Dive Bucket Bag.
What are the three essential items you’re currently carrying in your Dive Bucket Bag?
Definitely my camera--there's always something I want to snap when I'm out and about or if I'm in the sudden mood to vlog; wallet - funds my spontaneous cupcake addiction; and phone - I have a gazillion notes and reminders on it, mucho necessity!
ESEMBLĒ represents more than just a brand, it carries certain values, attitudes, and ways of living that makes the name unique and enchanting, just like our modern girl - What does it mean to you to be a ‘modern girl’?
I love this! I actually have my own series on C-Heads called Modern Woman. A 'modern girl' to me is someone who doesn't take no for an answer, who pushes her limits in multiple pursuits, and who has the curiosity to keep learning.
What little joys in life do you celebrate?
Natural light is a huge thing for me. I love seeing sunset pour through giving the warm feeling all over. In a few of my vlogs I just freak out about how stunning the light is and how it makes me feel. It's most probably the photographer in me. Another joy is a good laugh.
The quote “The world is your oyster” encourages girls to be fearless in their endeavors - What do you aspire to for your future?
I aspire to grow my current interest in photography, video making, and data as far as I can while constantly reading, seeing and understanding more about the world. Sometimes I think to myself how much the world has to offer and how little time I have here to learn as much as I can.
